Responsibilities
Job Purpose
The Director of IT Operations is responsible for the strategic leadership and day-to-day management of the organization’s IT infrastructure, service delivery, and technical operations. This includes oversight of cloud and on-premises environments, SaaS platforms, the IT Service Desk, and overall IT support. The Director will ensure operational excellence, scalable systems, and alignment of IT initiatives with business goals.
This is a key leadership role that combines strategic planning, technical expertise, and team management to deliver high-quality IT services and solutions that support the company’s growth, innovation, and compliance needs.
Key Accountabilities
Define and execute the company’s IT strategy in alignment with business goals and transformation initiatives.
Lead and manage IT operations across service delivery, cloud infrastructure, and the IT Service Desk.
Provide leadership, coaching, and development for direct reports and IT teams, promoting a high-performance and service-oriented culture.
Oversee enterprise infrastructure to ensure performance, reliability, scalability, and security.
Monitor and manage the IT operating budget, including vendor negotiations, expense tracking, and cost optimization.
Evaluate emerging technologies and lead strategic digital initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and business agility.
Manage relationships with external vendors and technology partners; negotiate contracts and ensure service levels are met.
Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory, data privacy, and cybersecurity requirements in coordination with the security team.
Lead cross-functional projects, overseeing project timelines, budgets, scope, and delivery of technology solutions.
Support IT governance through change management, risk assessments, documentation, and performance reporting.
Establish and monitor KPIs and metrics to measure operational performance and service delivery effectiveness.
Maintain hardware, software, and technology asset inventories, ensuring life-cycle management and compliance.
Address and resolve legacy system challenges by implementing modern, scalable SaaS and cloud-based platforms.
Serve as an escalation point for critical issues and incidents, ensuring timely resolution and root cause analysis.
Undertake any other duties of a similar level and responsibility as may be required from time to time
Qualifications
Experience/Qualifications/Education Required
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field is required.
ITIL certification required.
Additional certifications such as ITSM, COBIT, ISO/IEC 20000, Agile, Scrum, or Six Sigma are a strong plus.
Experience:
At least 10 years of progressive experience in IT operations or infrastructure management.
Minimum of 5 years in a leadership or people management role overseeing technical teams.
Proven track record in managing IT systems across cloud, on-prem, and hybrid environments.
Strong knowledge of Microsoft enterprise products.
Experience with SaaS and public cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
Familiarity with SaaS applications, system integration, and cybersecurity practices.
Experience with ITSM tools, project management systems, and automation platforms.
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Manage relationships with external technology vendors and Managed Service Providers (MSPs), ensuring alignment with SLAs, contractual terms, and performance expectations.
Ability to influence and collaborate with cross-functional business and technical stakeholders.
Strategic thinker with a hands-on approach to problem-solving and operational improvement.
