Are you an experienced leader that is excited to tell the story of energy technology innovation in California? If so, California Energy Commission (CEC) is hiring a Manager for the Strategic Analysis & Engagement Section of the Energy Research & Development Division (ERDD).

Our Energy Research & Development Division (ERDD) deploys over $300 million annually to advance technology innovation and research supporting the state’s clean energy and climate goals, including in the areas of renewable energy supply, building and industrial decarbonization, sustainable transportation, energy storage, energy distribution, resilience and reliability, and carbon management.

The Strategic Analysis and Engagement Section focuses on analyzing and communicating the impacts of ERDD investments to energy stakeholders through reports, publications, forums, technology seminars, and online platforms; and engaging and educating key stakeholders including the State Legislature, under-resourced communities, academic labs, and others on the ERDD’s funding programs.

 

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience in energy technology innovation and energy sector analysis.
  • Experience in equitable policy and strategy development and community engagement.
  • Experience in managing technical programs, including strategic planning activities.
  • Experience quantifying and communicating research benefits.
  • Ability to lead high-performing, highly motivated teams to build team capabilities and to foster a culture of collaboration, creativity, respect, and excellence.
  • Ability to deliver high-quality, timely teamwork products.
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced work environment, with a high level of organization, and to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to productively address and resolve conflict.
  • Ability to represent the Division and Commission in meetings, conferences, hearings, and workshops with state and federal agencies, the Legislature, companies, research organizations, communities, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, including with non-expert audiences.

 

** Telework option is available, but hired candidate must reside in California before starting.
