CALLING ALL GRID ENGINEERS WITH IPP EXPERIENCE. Generation patterns, grid regulation, turbines and substations, utility-scale grid-connection systems, grid integration, grid negotiation agreements, grid flow studies and analysis, WE WANT YOU!

With over 1GW of renewable energy projects currently in operation, our client is one of the biggest players in the African energy game. They are looking for a Grid Engineer that has an embedded understanding of all things grid.

  • Play a pivotal role in developmental projects

  • Conduct site assessments for grid connections

  • Create indicative designs

  • Apply for grid integration cost estimates and review detailed design documents

  • Perform grid code compliance studies (RETEC, quality of supply assessments, grid code simulation studies)

  • Naturally therefore, extensive experience with DIgSILENT and Powerfactory

  • Develop and implement systems to improve grid code compliance

  • Review consultant reports

  • Investigate grid faults

  • Develop facility power curves

  • Proven track record of successful industry stakeholder engagement

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Stakeholder engagement: Grid Operator and Governmental Agencies related to grid connections
  • Manage interconnection process with Grid Operator and relevant authorities
  • Design and optimise electrical grid systems
  • Conduct load flow studies and analyses to ensure efficient power distribution
  • Use knowledge of local legislation and regulations for authorisations and permits to produce guidelines and tools for project activities
  • Analyse and evaluate Grid Connection Offers and technical information impacting Grid Connection Design
  • Coordinate grid connection application, feasibility review, and acceptance
  • Evaluate Grid Impact studies in steady-state, dynamic, and transient states of all electrical parameters
  • Create dynamic models in wind generators and PV Inverters for simulations to model power flow and frequency response
  • Design and implement systems for grid expansion, integration of renewable energy sources, and smart grid technologies
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards
  • Analyse data from grid monitoring systems to identify trends and potential issues
