Job Purpose &amp; DescriptionThe Ductile Iron (DI) Technician is responsible for ensuring the overall quality, integrity, and efficient production of ductile iron products and equipment. The hours for this position will be Monday-Thursday 6aqm-2:30pm and Friday from 5am-1pm.Key Responsibilities:Class-C Operator<ul><li>Quality Control – Receiving and Inspection</li></ul><ul><li>Visually inspect all incoming castings for defects and ensure that each part meets specifications</li><li>When possible, repair defects utilizing various grinders</li><li>Maintain accurate grinding wheel inventory</li><li>Ensure accurate and timely completion of all required production reports (i.e. work order, indirect labor, QC defect)</li></ul><ul><li>Parts Coating (Tar Coating)</li></ul><ul><li>Ensure coating material maintains proper temperature, viscosity, and depth</li><li>Receive parts from QC or other DI Operations</li><li>Load parts in the immersion basket or on hooks as required</li><li>Utilize overhead crane to immerse parts and remove from tanks</li></ul><ul><li>Other duties as assigned</li></ul>Class-B Operator<ul><li>Lateral 90/Lateral 90FxM Assembly and Packaging</li></ul><ul><li>Maintain full knowledge and understanding of Lateral 90 fittings, as well as the differences in size and configuration</li><li>Assemble required fittings</li><li>Proficient in ability to correctly assemble coupling to Lateral 90 for FxM fittings</li><li>Ensure correct quantity, package and labeling for Lateral 90’s</li><li>Maintain accurate inventory of required materials</li></ul><ul><li>Gasket Inspection</li></ul><ul><li>Inspect all DI gaskets for defects</li><li>Trim excess flashing according to specifications</li></ul><ul><li>Saddle Assembly</li></ul><ul><li>Clean, maintain, and properly store saddle gaskets</li><li>Properly cure saddle</li><li>Assemble cured saddles and gaskets according to specifications</li><li>Ensure proper packaging and labeling of completed assemblies</li></ul><ul><li>Other duties as assigned</li></ul>Class-A Operator<ul><li>Fitting Fabrication</li></ul><ul><li>Recognize and identify all components of fabricated fittings</li><li>Assemble fittings to sales order specifications</li></ul><ul><li>Cement Lining</li></ul><ul><li>Measure and blend concrete, sand, and Rhoplex liquid to proper consistency</li><li>Apply cement to applicable fittings according to specifications</li></ul><ul><li>Complete and verify documentation as required</li><li>Manually unload trucks from foundries</li><li>Assist in all 5S activities</li><li>Other duties as assigned</li></ul>Job RequirementsEducation &amp; Certificates:High School diploma or GED requiredTechnical Skills &amp; Experience:1+ years experience in manufacturing, fabrication, or assembly preferredCompetencies<ul><li>Strong basic math skills</li><li>Ability to read and comprehend work order instructions, specifications, correspondence and other memos</li><li>Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and written</li><li>Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with various tools (i.e. grinders, basic hand tools, compressors, gauges, etc.)</li></ul>Key RelationshipsIncumbent will communicate regularly with peers within department and cross-functional departments, as well as with supervisors and other plant leadership.Working Conditions<ul><li>Employee may be exposed to a Considerable level of hazards in the work environment, such as chemicals, commercial products, exposure to potential toxins, moving machinery, repetitive motion, excessive noise, powered industrial vehicle fork/reach/ bucket lift/other.</li><li>May on occasion be exposed to loud sounds and distracting noise levels.</li><li>Employee may be required to perform a Considerable level of specific tasks such as lifting up to 50 lbs, muscular action, body movements, working positions, posture changes, visual attentiveness).</li><li>Employee will be required to wear protective eyewear, laboratory coat, appropriate gloves, hearing protection, respiratory protection, safety shoes, hard hat, and/or other.</li><li>Employee will be working in a non-climate-controlled plant environment and may be exposed to uncomfortable temperatures (hot or cold), depending upon the weather conditions.</li></ul>Pay &amp; Benefits: <ul><li>Starting hourly rate $21.71/hour</li><li>Medical, dental and vision benefits</li><li>401 retirement</li><li>Vacation/PTO time</li><li>Paid holidays</li></ul>
