Senior Engineering Technologist provide technical expertise to solve more complex problems, and leadership skills to manage work in a specific area of expertise, with minimal supervision. Incumbents are expected to develop advanced skills and to have the ability to work independently with increased latitude for unreviewed work.<ul><li>Provides subject matter technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis and resolution of problems in area of expertise.</li><li>Ensures accomplishment of business goals and objectives through effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling and monitoring of work activities.</li><li>Independently reviews and prepares thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations and sketches.</li><li>Conducts engineering and related studies.</li><li>Strives to continually improve job-related, technical and professional knowledge, skills and performance.</li><li>Develops positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities. Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills. Maintains accurate records and files.</li><li>Supports the company's goals and represents the company positively and professionally.</li><li>Coaches and mentors other Engineering Technologists and Engineers.</li><li>Facilitate MER Meetings to review risk items and develop scope and budget recommendations for future inspections.</li><li>Collaborate with COSO and Station/Plant Engineers to initiate project requests in PowerPlan long range planning</li><li>Support Risk Grid items with Station/Plant Engineer and Technical Manager for entry to the Station Risk Grid.</li><li>Provide technical oversight and support station operations, maintenance, and Implementation Managers for emergent technical requests, outages, and projects</li><li>Document inspection findings and provide Station/Plant Engineer and/or COSO prioritized repair recommendations.</li></ul>Basic Qualifications:<ul><li>Either 4+ years of relevant industry experience coupled with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Engineering Technology, or 6+ years of experience and Associate Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology, or 8+ years equivalent experience with a Highschool diploma/GED.</li></ul>Desired Qualifications:<ul><li>Good written and oral communication skills.</li><li>Experience with Power Plant or industrial mechanical equipment.</li><li>Previous work experience at a power generation facility.</li><li>Experience with steam generators, coal/natural gas/fuel oil boilers and combustion equipment</li><li>Knowledge and experience with mechanical systems and equipment – pumps, compressors, turbines, fans, valves</li><li>Mechanical piping and systems (BPVC, ASME Section I, Section VIII, B31.1 Power Piping) – design, operations, and maintenance</li><li>Safety/relief valve maintenance and compliance requirements</li><li>Metallurgical and welding knowledge including testing, NDE, and QA/QC</li><li>CBM knowledge – flow testing, tribology, vibration analysis</li><li>Experience in the utility industry.</li><li>Proficient in applying principles of project management.</li><li>Capable of learning quickly, working independently and in a team environment.</li><li>Demonstrated ability to be flexible and adapt to constant changing work needs and priorities.</li><li>Demonstrated experience showing familiarity and knowledge of applicable codes and standards.</li><li>Demonstrated ability to effectively handle multiple assignments.</li><li>Ability to satisfactorily meet the physical job requirements including walking, bending, kneeling, crawling, pushing, pulling</li></ul>Working Conditions<ul><li>Onsite mobility classification.</li><li>Performs work in an office and power plant environment</li><li>Approximately 30-50% travel mostly within the region.</li><li>Work location for this position will be at Cayuga Generation Station.  The hiring manager may elect to base this position at another Midwest generating facility (Gibson, Noblesville, Or Edwardsport) if the successful candidate is currently located at that facility.</li></ul>Travel Requirements25-50%<h3>Relocation Assistance Provided (as applicable)</h3>Yes<h3>Represented/Union Position</h3>No<h3>Visa Sponsored Position</h3>No. This is not a Visa Sponsored Position.
