In this role you will be responsible for the design and delivery of test equipment that enables the execution of critical tests across our iron-air battery systems and supporting hardware. The scope of your work will range from simple electrical characterization setups to building out our physical system integration test bed—a benchtop, representative model of our complete control system featuring actual product electronics, sensors, and actuators.A key focus of this role will be supporting the design of test equipment for verification campaigns of our battery management system (BMS) hardware and firmware. This includes designing and building test infrastructure for both individual PCBAs tests and system-level integration tests focused on functional, reliability, and compliance testing.This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the scaling of our battery technology and be part of the growth of a fast-moving company with breakthrough technology and an incredible mission! Relocation assistance is available. <h3>What you'll do:</h3><ul style=""><li>Design and build custom electrical test equipment to automate bring-up and testing of our product’s control system hardware.</li><li>Own the physical execution and maintenance of our control system integration test bed, ensuring all product electronics, sensors, and actuators are safely integrated, mapped, and representative of the field system.</li><li>Contribute to the software and firmware development of test beds, including control, automation, and data acquisition functionality (Python).</li><li>Architect and implement test equipment for BMS verification, including bench-level functional test setups, hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) systems for firmware and controls algorithm verification testing, reliability test beds, and compliance/certification test beds.</li><li>Collaborate with product design team to diagnose product issues and implement fixes in hardware and software.</li><li>Contribute to the software development of test beds, including control, automation, and data acquisition functionality.</li></ul><h3>What you'll bring:</h3><ul style=""><li>Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.</li><li>7+ years of experience in electrical design and/or test equipment development (battery or energy systems experience is a plus).</li><li>Proficiency with eCAD tools for PCB, control panel and harness designs.</li><li>Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment.</li><li>Hands-on experience with sensors, power electronics, data acquisition, and control systems.</li><li>Hands-on prototyping experience, including tooling (crimping, soldering, etc), troubleshooting with scopes/meters, and general PCBA rework.</li><li>Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to balance speed, rigor, and safety.</li><li>Experience with developing software for testing or automation environments.</li><li>Python or PLC languages (IEC 61131-3) preferred.</li><li>Familiarity with BMS architecture, communication protocols (CAN, SPI, I2C, etc.), and firmware test methodologies preferred.</li></ul>Experience with electrical safety requirements and panel wiring standards (e.g., UL 508A is a plus) preferred. #LI-Onsite#LI-TR1Humanity is a cornerstone of Form Energy’s culture, and we make sure our compensation and benefits reflect that.
