Heavy Machinery Mechanic II

We want you to have a sense of belonging and feel valued for your contributions and the perspectives you bring.   </span></div><div><span> </span></div><div><span><b>Summary:  </b> </span></div><div><span>Craft - Mechanic II – Shop is responsible for troubleshooting, diagnosing, and providing high-quality repairs on heavy equipment in a shop environment. Heavy Equipment types will range from compact construction equipment, earth moving equipment, aerial and T&amp;D pulling equipment. This is a shopbased role with the potential to travel locally.  </span></div><div><span> </span></div><div><span>NOTE: The Mechanic II will provide their own standard tools. <br /><br /><b>Requirements:     </b></span></div><ul><li><span>Performs extensive mechanic duties on a variety of equipment (skid steers, excavators, dozers, trenchers, bucket trucks, etc.), including troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repair of equipment in the shop; needs to be familiar with all makes of equipment and contractual requirements (shop; field, as needed.)</span></li><li><span>Performs electronic engine diagnosis and troubleshooting.</span></li><li><span>Uses CAT ET/INSITE programs.</span></li><li><span>Performs electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, and A/C diagnostics, including interpreting and reading schematics.</span></li><li><span>Works with Shop Forman and Maintenance Managers on day-to-day operations and priorities.</span></li><li><span>Reports and documents work order completions/variances and production to supervisor.</span></li><li><span>Understands and complies with all Department of Transportation (DOT) rules and regulations and Standard Operation Procedures.</span></li><li><span>Operates equipment safely and efficiently, including use of hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment, while always utilizing proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE.)</span></li><li><span>Operates Company vehicle as needed for site operations and vehicle analysis according to site safety rules.    </span></li><li><span>Attends work regularly and punctually, as scheduled or expected.</span></li><li><span>Complies with Employee Handbook, Code of Conduct and Company Policies &amp; Procedures.</span></li><li><span>Additional Responsibilities:   </span><ul><li>Presents, supports, and leads by example with a safety and quality-oriented attitude.</li><li>Reports productivity daily.</li><li>Ensures quality control program processes are followed consistently according to the plan.</li><li>Ensures the required documentation is submitted for monitoring and maintaining the Environmental Management System (EMS.)</li><li>Ensures permitting is complete before commencement of work.</li><li>Ensures training is complete to comply with Environmental Management System (EMS) requirements.</li><li>Assists the team with other projects and job-related duties/functions based on company needs as directed by the supervisor. </li></ul></li><li>Must provide own standard tools (employer will provide specialty tools.)</li><li>Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather.</li><li>Ability to have regular attendance and be punctual. </li><li>Functional competencies include communication, attention to detail, teamwork, prioritization, and drive.</li><li>Advanced knowledge in: <ul><li>Reading and understanding mechanical equipment specifications, including maintenance, hydraulics, electrical, pneumatics, and mechanical.</li><li>Utilizing CAT ET/INSITE.  </li><li>Adhering to safety rules and regulations.</li></ul></li><li>Intermediate knowledge in:<ul><li>Communication.</li><li>Listening skills. </li><li>Comprehending and following directions. </li><li>Meeting work goals.</li><li>Meeting deadlines. </li><li>Working in a team environment.</li></ul></li><li>Basic Knowledge in:<ul><li>Microsoft Word and Excel (Data Sorting and Filters, Shortcut keys, Data Validation, basic charts, formatting, and filtering) preferred. </li></ul></li><li>Functional competencies include communication, attention to detail, teamwork, prioritization, and drive. </li></ul><div><span><b> </b> </span></div><div><span><b>Safety:</b> </span></div><ul><li><span>Ensures that safety is the most important function, follows safe practices while working.</span></li><li><span>Reinforces safe behaviors and eliminates “at risk” behaviors.</span></li><li><span>Reports potentially unsafe conditions and uses materials and equipment properly.</span></li><li><span>Ensures Job Hazard Analysis (JHA’s) occurs before scopes of work commence.</span></li><li><span>Adheres to and understands standard operating procedures.</span></li><li><span>Receives job- and task-specific training prior to work commencing.</span></li><li><span>Follows technical, quality and safety systems in place and determines appropriate action.</span></li><li><span>Follows safety and security procedures and determines appropriate action.  Reports potentially unsafe conditions and uses materials and equipment properly.</span></li></ul><div><span><b> </b> </span></div><div><span><b>Qualifications:   </b> </span></div><ul><li><span>Meets and maintains DOT qualifications with a Medical Card preferred.</span></li><li><span>4+ years of heavy construction experience; or graduate of a mechanical technical college</span></li><li><span>Ability to travel 5%-15% is required.</span></li><li><span>A valid driver's license is required. </span></li></ul><div><span> </span></div><div><span><b>Anticipated base salary range:</b><span> </span> $28.41 - $35.52 per hour   </span></div><div><span>   </span></div><div><span>The final agreed-upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. </span></div><div><span> </span></div><div><span> </span></div><div><span>RES offers benefits that are effective first day of employment.
