Job OverviewAs a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will lead the design and development of cutting‑edge mechanical systems that push the boundaries of performance, reliability and innovation. Key Responsibilities<ul style=""><li style="color:gray;font-size:10pt;margin:3px 0px;letter-spacing:0.25px;line-height:1.6;">Clean-sheet mechanical design and development. Predominantly relating to rotating electrical machines, transmissions and drivetrains but may also include pumps, fans, power electronics and batteries as required.</li><li style="font-size:11pt;margin:3px 0px;letter-spacing:0.25px;line-height:1.6;">Lead concept development, prototyping and validation activities.</li><li style="font-size:11pt;margin:3px 0px;letter-spacing:0.25px;line-height:1.6;">Mechanical analysis of conceptual designs (including CAE), demonstrating a strong understanding of likely component failure modes and material strengths.</li><li style="font-size:11pt;margin:3px 0px;letter-spacing:0.25px;line-height:1.6;">Build and test of prototype hardware and test rigs as necessary.</li><li style="font-size:11pt;margin:3px 0px;letter-spacing:0.25px;line-height:1.6;">Support delivery of industry-leading products from concept through to production</li><li style="font-size:11pt;margin:3px 0px;letter-spacing:0.25px;line-height:1.6;">Individually lead or contribute as a senior member within a team to deliver projects to internal or customer specifications.</li><li style="font-size:11pt;margin:3px 0px;letter-spacing:0.25px;line-height:1.6;">Utilisation of best-in-class simulation software as part of the development process to optimise and analyse product behaviour.</li><li style="font-size:11pt;margin:3px 0px;letter-spacing:0.25px;line-height:1.6;">3D CAD modelling and 2D engineering drawings of components and assemblies.</li><li style="font-size:11pt;margin:3px 0px;letter-spacing:0.25px;line-height:1.6;">Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, test, and supply chain</li><li style="font-size:11pt;margin:3px 0px;letter-spacing:0.25px;line-height:1.6;">Ensure compliance with company, industry quality and regulatory standards</li><li style="font-size:11pt;margin:3px 0px;letter-spacing:0.25px;line-height:1.6;">Develop and mentor junior engineers.</li></ul> The Requirements<ul style=""><li style="color:rgb(118,113,113);font-size:10pt;margin:3px 0px;letter-spacing:0.25px;line-height:1.6;">Strong capability in 3D CAD modelling and 2D engineering drawings</li><li style="font-size:11pt;margin:3px 0px;letter-spacing:0.25px;line-height:1.6;">Experience using analytical methods (hand calculations and/or CAE tools such as ANSYS or Matlab)</li><li style="font-size:11pt;margin:3px 0px;letter-spacing:0.25px;line-height:1.6;">Proven experience applying DFM, DFA, DFMEA and PFMEA.</li><li style="font-size:11pt;margin:3px 0px;letter-spacing:0.25px;line-height:1.6;">Experience working with and managing external suppliers</li></ul> Qualifications<ul style=""><li style="color:rgb(118,113,113);font-size:10pt;margin:3px 0px;letter-spacing:0.25px;line-height:1.6;">Degree in mechanical engineering or a closely related discipline</li><li style="color:rgb(118,113,113);font-size:10pt;margin:3px 0px;letter-spacing:0.25px;line-height:1.6;">Relevant experience could be considered</li></ul> Bonus PointsIt would be beneficial (but not essential) if in addition to the above you also had:<ul style=""><li style="color:rgb(118,113,113);font-size:10pt;margin:3px 0px;letter-spacing:0.25px;line-height:1.6;">Strong experience in mechanical design engineering</li><li style="font-size:11pt;margin:3px 0px;letter-spacing:0.25px;line-height:1.6;">Autodesk inventor and/or Solidworks experience</li><li style="font-size:11pt;margin:3px 0px;letter-spacing:0.25px;line-height:1.6;">Working knowledge of MASTA or KISSsoft software</li><li style="font-size:11pt;margin:3px 0px;letter-spacing:0.25px;line-height:1.6;">Experience in high volume manufacturing - gravity or high-pressure casting part design</li><li style="font-size:11pt;margin:3px 0px;letter-spacing:0.25px;line-height:1.6;">Directly relevant design experience (previous motor, gear, transmission, spline or bearing life calculation experience)</li><li style="font-size:11pt;margin:3px 0px;letter-spacing:0.25px;line-height:1.6;">Experience working within a manufacturing environment</li></ul> Turntide Technologies is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
