AECOM is seeking a highly motivated, self-driven Environmental Scientist/Geologist for our Oakland and Sacramento, CA offices. In this role, the successful candidate will support Project Managers in the planning, oversight of fieldwork, and evaluation of hydrogeologic and environmental data for a wide range of multidisciplinary environmental projects. Projects include large Federal clients, refineries, and numerous commercial clients.The ideal candidate is an excellent communicator, technically capable, and has an awareness of relevant environmental regulations. This position includes both field and office responsibilities with opportunity for growth while working alongside experienced engineers and scientists on environmental site assessments, remediation, and environmental support projects.The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:<ul><li>Manage and perform field-based tasks for environmental investigation and remediation programs.</li><li>Oversee and lead field activities including monitoring well installation, soil, groundwater, and vapor sampling using standard environmental drilling and sampling techniques.</li><li>Conduct environmental site assessments, remedial support, and solid waste-related projects.</li><li>Interpret and record data, conduct analyses, and compare findings to relevant studies and local, state, and federal regulations (including RCRA and CERCLA) to ensure compliance.</li><li>Perform data management, evaluation, and technical report writing, including environmental investigation reports, work plans, conceptual site models, monitoring reports, well installation documentation, and closure reports.</li><li>Prepare clear, accurate, and comprehensive technical reports to support project objectives and regulatory requirements.</li><li>Coordinate and interface with local and state regulatory agencies, clients, and subcontractors.</li><li>Apply strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills to evaluate environmental data and develop recommendations.</li><li>Detect and troubleshoot issues encountered during fieldwork, including sampling conditions, drilling challenges, and equipment performance.</li><li>Apply appropriate scientific methods and propose analytical techniques to support project objectives.</li><li>Conduct specific phases of projects under general supervision while supporting senior staff.</li><li>Assist in providing technical recommendations and consulting services within area of expertise.</li><li>Utilize standard business and technical software tools, including Microsoft Office and, as applicable, GIS and AutoCAD.</li><li>Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills in both field and office settings.</li><li>Maintain high attention to detail, organization, and time management while managing multiple project priorities.</li><li>Work independently as a self-starter while contributing to a collaborative team environment.</li><li>Demonstrate willingness and ability to work outdoors in varying and sometimes challenging field conditions.</li><li>Demonstrate flexibility to work on diverse projects, extended hours, and varying locations.</li><li>Travel to project locations, including regional day travel and overnight stays (expected travel may exceed 50%).</li><li>Mentor junior staff and maintain commitment to workplace health and safety.</li></ul>
