Our customers span a wide array of industries including aerospace, defense, mobility, healthcare, pharma, biotech, clean tech, chemicals, energy, lifestyle, food production, and industrial equipment.</p><h2>Who we are looking for</h2><p>Re:Build Manufacturing is seeking a highly skilled Senior R&amp;D Machine Designer to design specialized custom machinery and equipment for our manufacturing operations. This design-focused role emphasizes creating detailed CAD models, drawings, and specifications for custom equipment while also participating hands-on in the fabrication and assembly process. You will independently manage multiple R&amp;D design projects from initial concept through fabrication support and installation, supporting Re:Build's diverse manufacturing capabilities across multiple sites. The ideal candidate is an experienced designer who creates practical, buildable equipment solutions and isn't afraid to get hands-on during the build process.</p><h2>What you will get to do</h2><ul><li>Design specialized custom machinery and equipment from concept to completion using SolidWorks</li><li>Create detailed CAD models, drawings, assemblies, and specifications</li><li>Participate hands-on in the fabrication and assembly of designed equipment</li><li>Design hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems for custom machinery</li><li>Manage multiple concurrent R&amp;D design projects</li><li>Work alongside fabricators during builds to troubleshoot and refine designs</li><li>Test and validate equipment performance, making design adjustments as needed</li><li>Collaborate with production teams and technical staff across Re:Build sites</li><li>Coordinate with external vendors and suppliers for components and services</li><li>Document designs, processes, and best practices</li></ul><h2>What you bring to the team</h2><ul><li><strong>Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline</strong></li><li><strong>10+ years of machine design and custom equipment design experience</strong></li><li><strong>Expert proficiency in SolidWorks</strong> for 3D modeling, assemblies, and detailed drawings</li><li><strong>Willingness to participate hands-on in machine fabrication and assembly</strong></li><li>Hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems design experience</li><li>PLC or controls integration knowledge</li><li>Strong understanding of fabrication processes (welding, sheet metal, machining)</li><li>Ability to design practical, buildable equipment from concept through production</li><li>Experience managing multiple design projects independently</li><li>Strong problem-solving and communication skills</li><li>GD&amp;T (Geometric Dimensioning &amp; Tolerancing) knowledge</li></ul><h2><strong>Preferred Qualifications</strong></h2><ul><li>FEA or simulation analysis experience</li><li>Hands-on fabrication or machining background (welding, assembly experience a plus)</li><li>Experience designing equipment for diverse manufacturing environments</li><li>Background in automation equipment or process improvement machinery</li><li>Experience in a lean manufacturing environment</li></ul><h2><strong>Work Environment</strong></h2><ul><li>Primarily based at Re:Build's Denver facility</li><li>Mix of office/engineering environment using CAD software and hands-on shop floor work</li><li>Active participation in fabrication shop during machine builds</li><li>Occasional travel to other Re:Build sites or suppliers</li><li>Standard day shift, Monday through Friday</li></ul><h2>Additional Information</h2><p><strong>Compensation:</strong> The anticipated base salary range for this role is <strong>[$117,000 - $175,000]</strong>. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and internal equity.
