Since 2009, our team has worked steadily to make this dream a reality. We’ve designed and tested many generations of prototype aircraft capable of serving in a network of electric air taxis. We’re looking for talented, committed individuals to join our team as we push onward toward certifying the Joby aircraft, scaling our manufacturing, and launching our initial commercial service.</p><h2>Overview</h2><p>We are looking for a talented Software Engineer with exceptional C++ skills to work on our core Flight Framework that flies our aircraft! This is the framework that powers all the software systems on the aircraft.</p><h2>Responsibilities</h2><p>The successful candidate will be designing clean C++ APIs used by all of the numerous computers on the aircraft and will also be improving the distributed computing framework used by all the computers. Additionally, you will work with system engineers to decompose equipment-level requirements into high-level and low-level software requirements in compliance with DO-178C. You will design, implement, and test flight-critical software components with C++ as well as integrate these into the larger system.</p><h2>Required</h2><ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in computer science or computer engineering and 7+ years of full-time experience. An advanced degree and 5+ years industry experience will also be considered.</li> <li>Expert knowledge of C++ with demonstratable knowledge of multi-threaded systems. Your C++ knowledge will be challenged.</li> <li>Knowledge of object-oriented programming methodology, multi-layered system architectures, and creating clean APIs, APIs that are independent of the OS (operating system)</li> <li>Experience with modern integrated development environments and debuggers</li> <li>Willingness to be flexible and learn new technologies</li></ul><h2>Desired</h2><ul> <li>Experience with or knowledge of DO-178, particularly writing low-level requirements</li> <li>Expert knowledge of distributed computing frameworks/IPC</li> <li>Demonstratable proficiency in SW development in a regulatory envoronment is a plus.</li> <li>Experience using git version control</li> <li>A positive attitude and a passion for aerospace!</li></ul><p>Please still apply if you don’t meet all items in the desired section! The target base pay for this position is $120,400 - $191,900/yr.
