We’re looking for talented, committed individuals to join our team as we push onward toward certifying the Joby aircraft, scaling our manufacturing, and launching our initial commercial service.</p><h2>Overview</h2><p>Joby Aviation is seeking a passionate student to join the System Electronics team in San Carlos, CA as a Mechanical Engineering Intern. This individual would be responsible for designing testing equipment, thermal systems aircraft components, low-voltage electronic housings, and manufacturing tooling. This role will involve design work starting at the conceptual level through full modeling and continue into manufacturing and testing.</p><h2>Responsibilities</h2><ul> <li>Design of complicated components and packaging</li> <li>Initial layout and sizing </li> <li>Detailed design and fabrication specifications</li> <li>Direct communication with vendors and technicians in manufacturing</li></ul><h2>Required</h2><ul> <li>Heading into junior or senior year of undergraduate degree or above at time of internship</li> <li>Available Summer 2026</li> <li>Excellent problem solving and communication skills </li> <li>Strong analytical background </li> <li>Experience with hands-on design and testing </li> <li>Proficiency in mechanical design, materials selection, kinematics, troubleshooting, and analysis </li> <li>Proficiency with CAD</li></ul><h2>Desired</h2><ul> <li>Experience with CATIA CAD, specifically using Generative Shape Design, Part Design, and Assembly Design modules.</li></ul><p> </p><h2>Additional Information</h2><p><strong>Relocation Assistance:</strong> This position does not offer relocation assistance. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.</p><p> </p><p>The pay range for undergraduate interns, which includes freshman to senior level students, is $22-$31/hr. The pay range for graduate interns with a Bachelor, Master, and/or Ph.D. degree is $5,550-$7,800/month.
