By combining advanced data systems with deep utility expertise, OneBill delivers seamless, accurate, and transparent billing across California’s most complex energy environments — PG&amp;E, SCE, and SDG&amp;E.We’re looking for a hands-on Billing Operations &amp; Reliability Manager to ensure all billing accounts remain accurate, up-to-date, and issue-free. This role is perfect for someone who thrives at the intersection of operations, data, and financial accuracy — someone who can keep complex systems running smoothly, diagnose issues, and continuously improve both tools and processes.You will own the invoice-to-cash lifecycle for our platform: monitoring billing runs, reconciling data, resolving anomalies, and ensuring customer billing accuracy. This is an independent, detail-oriented role that blends analytical rigor with operational excellence — ideal for someone who takes pride in ensuring the system works every time.The reliability of King Energy’s billing platform is core to our success — and to our customers’ trust. As our Utility Billing Operations &amp; Reliability Manager, you’ll own the operational backbone of our business. You’ll work directly with leadership and engineering, and your work will directly influence revenue integrity, customer experience, and system performance.This is an opportunity to join a fast-growing company at the forefront of the renewable energy transition, with the autonomy to shape how utility billing at scale is done right.<h2>Key Responsibilities</h2><h3>Billing System Reliability</h3><ul><li>Own the daily, weekly, and monthly billing cycles across all utilities and customers. </li><li>Maintain visibility into billing system health using dashboards, metrics, and exception reports. </li><li>Detect and investigate anomalies such as missing data, rate mismatches, or timing errors. </li><li>Reconcile King Energy billing outputs against utility statements, ensuring alignment and accuracy. </li></ul><h3>Utility Billing Domain Expertise</h3><ul><li>Develop working knowledge of PG&amp;E, SCE, and SDG&amp;E tariffs, including VNEM and successor programs. </li><li>Track and implement tariff updates, TOU changes, and seasonal rate adjustments in the billing system. </li><li>Partner with Finance to validate accounts receivable data and true-up workflows. </li><li>Document and operationalize complex billing logic into repeatable, auditable processes. </li></ul><h3>Process &amp; Tooling Improvements</h3><ul><li>Maintain and refine operational runbooks, SOPs, and QA protocols for billing execution. </li><li>Identify sources of fragility in the billing pipeline and implement preventive solutions. </li><li>Collaborate with Engineering to validate and test fixes, enhancements, and new features. </li><li>Enhance visibility through reporting tools (e.g., Retool, Metabase, Jira) to ensure end-to-end transparency. </li></ul><h3>Stakeholder Communication</h3><ul><li>Serve as the primary point of escalation for billing anomalies and exceptions. </li><li>Coordinate with Customer Success to ensure proactive communication to clients regarding billing updates or adjustments. </li><li>Provide regular reporting to leadership on billing health, reconciliation metrics, and operational KPIs. </li><li>Translate technical findings into clear summaries for executive and non-technical audiences. </li></ul> <h2>Qualifications</h2><ul><li>5+ years of experience in billing operations, financial systems operations, or technical program management. </li><li>Demonstrated ability to own and operate complex, high-impact systems independently. </li><li>Strong analytical mindset — able to trace issues through data flows and identify root causes. </li><li>Proficient with dashboards and workflow tools such as Retool, Metabase, Jira, or equivalent. </li><li>Deep attention to detail and a proactive approach to operational reliability. </li><li>Excellent communication skills, able to bridge technical and business perspectives. </li><li>Experience in energy, fintech, SaaS billing, or regulated operations is highly desirable. </li><li>Bonus: Familiarity with California IOU tariffs (PG&amp;E, SCE, SDG&amp;E) or VNEM programs.</li><li>Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, data analytics, or engineering preferred.</li></ul>
