This role does not carry sole operational responsibility for contractor safety or site-level delivery (this is to be achieved through third party safety advisory companies) but instead ensures that effective systems, oversight, competent parties and governance are in place. </span></div><div><br></div><div><span style="font-size:16px;">Whilst we maintain a degree of flexibility, this position requires an average of 3 days in the office per week in London.</span></div><br><br><h3>What you'll do</h3><ul><li>Provide direction and accountability for H&amp;S within OEGEN.</li><li>Oversee and manage the performance of external H&amp;S advisory providers.</li><li>Act as the focal point for OEGEN boards and funds on H&amp;S performance, risks, and opportunities.</li><li>Champion continuous improvement and a positive safety culture across diverse technologies and geographies.</li><li>Develop and maintain OEGEN’s H&amp;S strategy, policies, and management system, aligned with international best practice and local legal requirements.</li><li>Provide oversight, ensuring that H&amp;S duties are appropriately delegated to external service providers and contractors (e.g.,CDM appointments, competence checks).</li><li>Lead board-level engagement on H&amp;S, delivering clear, actionable insights.</li><li>Advise on H&amp;S policy, systems, and standards, ensuring compliance across jurisdictions.</li><li>Conduct reviews and gap analyses against regulatory requirements, advising on best practices.</li><li>Maintain oversight of supplier competence frameworks (e.g., Achilles) and contractor approvals.</li><li>Oversee identification, assessment, and monitoring of key safety risks across the portfolio.</li><li>Ensure OEGEN directors and teams are appropriately trained to fulfil their H&amp;S duties.</li><li>Embed H&amp;S risk management within investment and operational decision-making.</li><li>Consolidate H&amp;S KPIs and incident data provided by external advisors, preparing clear board-level reporting with trend analysis.</li><li>Act as the senior escalation point for major H&amp;S incidents, providing confident leadership during crises.</li><li>Coordinate advisory input and ensure alignment to OEGEN’s incident management.</li><li>Support lessons learned processes to drive continuous improvement.</li></ul><h3>What you'll need</h3><ul><li>Strong background in renewable energy or complex infrastructure sectors.</li><li>In-depth understanding of UK CDM regulations, with experience managing safety from a client’s perspective.</li><li>Experience working with external advisors and managing H&amp;S across multiple geographies.</li><li>Ability to communicate complex risks to non- technical stakeholders.</li><li>Flexible, collaborative, and solutions-focused mindset, with willingness to travel internationally.</li></ul><h3>💚 Why else you'll love it here</h3><ul><li>🎉 Octopus Energy Group is a unique culture.
