The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic. The position is based in Hagerstown, MDAccountabilities<ul><li>The student will have the opportunity to make an impact in Health, Safety and Environmental, (HSE) department playing a key role in implementing and monitoring our current safety programs, while also engaging with employees to refine safety procedures.</li><li>Inspect and evaluate workplace environments, equipment, and practices for compliance with corporate and legislative requirements, standards, and regulations</li><li>Work daily with the HSE Manager and others on the management team</li><li>Daily/weekly monitoring of safety reporting and digital systems</li><li>Assist HSE, Engineering, and supervisors with job safety analysis and other procedural improvements</li><li>Provide project status updates as required</li><li>Works under close supervision of the HSE Manager </li></ul>Required Skills/Knowledge:<ul><li>Must be pursuing a degree in Environmental, Health and Safety or engineering disciplines or related field. </li><li>Current Junior or Senior at a 4-year university with a graduation date between December, 2026 and December, 2027</li><li>Or enrolled in a Master’s program with a graduation date between December, 2026 and December, 2027</li><li>Must be available to work at least 40 hours per week onsite </li></ul>In accordance with the DOT’s FRA and FTA programs, Hitachi’s substance screening program tests pre-employment candidates and current employees, as required for safety-sensitive positions.The hourly pay for this position is $25 per hour.#LI-RC1#LI-OnsiteEqual Opportunity Employer (EOE)-Females/Minorities/Protected Veterans/Individuals with Disabilities If you need a reasonable accommodation to apply for a job at Hitachi, please send the nature of request and contact information to hrunitedstates@hitachirail.com.
