<h2>About the Role:</h2>
As an early member of our software engineering team, you will have the opportunity to establish best practices and build our go-to market platform. WATS is a climate tech startup decarbonizing businesses with waste operations software. WATS is aiming to solve for a 100M serviceable market - climate tech is a $1.5 trillion dollar industry.&nbsp;
You will work directly with our founding team to deliver a software platform that meets all the needs a business has on their journey to manage their waste sustainably while reducing their costs and carbon. This role will require you to work across a modern web application stack and make informed decisions about what languages, frameworks, tools and services we will utilize to scale WATS to hundreds of thousands of customers.

WATS helps businesses streamline their waste operations, report on carbon impacts, and comply with shifting environmental regulations. WATS is led by two female co-founders (<a href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/meredithdf/">Meredith Danberg-Ficarelli</a> and <a href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/laura-rosenshine/">Laura Rosenshine</a>) with over 2 decades of experience in the commercial waste industry with a focus on delivering zero waste solutions in New York City. They are building a SaaS solution that solves the pain points at the intersection of commercial waste management and sustainability. The United States has finally stepped up with monumental climate legislation, and the time to act is now.
Meredith and Laura are die hard zero waste experts and highly motivated to do everything in their power to make WATS a major part of the solution businesses need to change their procedures so that they handle their waste as sustainably as possible.
In June of 2022 WATS joined the <a href="http://eranyc.com">Entrepreneur Roundtable Accelerator</a> and received their first VC funding. WATS is currently raising a pre-seed round from investors and has a handful of client beta testers.&nbsp;
Your Responsibilities:
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Design, build, monitor, and iterate on a new application stack for WATS, including front-ends, APIs and tests</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Establish and contribute to software development best practices such as code reviews, CI/CD, automated testing, performance, and production monitoring</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Collaborating with product owners and participating in our planning and design meetings, daily standups, and other team and product building processes.</li>
<li style="font-weight: 300;" aria-level="1">Ownership of your tasks until completion, with a focus on quality code and customer experience</li>
</ul>
Minimum Qualifications:
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Passionate self-driven software engineer with 3+ years of experience delivering modern full stack solutions</li>
<li style="font-weight: 300;" aria-level="1">Strong experience with web protocols (HTTP, REST APIs, websockets, OAuth, etc.)</li>
<li style="font-weight: 300;" aria-level="1">Strong knowledge of web application stacks.&nbsp; Experience with at least one web framework such as React, Vue, Angular, Flask, etc</li>
<li style="font-weight: 300;" aria-level="1">Expertise in one or more server-side languages, such as Node.js, Python or PHP.</li>
<li style="font-weight: 300;" aria-level="1">Experience with server side technologies, such as SQL, ORMs, MVC frameworks, caching, cloud storage, etc.</li>
<li style="font-weight: 300;" aria-level="1">Basic proficiency with SQL and data modeling</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Product-oriented mindset. Comfortable translating nontechnical product requirements into code.</li>
<li style="font-weight: 300;" aria-level="1">Dedication to designing and writing clean, readable and testable code in a professional manner, using best practices in a team environment</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Be Mission Driven and interested in creating applications that have a social and environmental impact</li>
</ul>
Nice to have:

<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Experience with JAMStack application architecture, Next.js and/or other React frameworks</li>
<li style="font-weight: 300;" aria-level="1">Experience building scalable APIs or other systems using AWS or other cloud infrastructure</li>
<li style="font-weight: 300;" aria-level="1">Experience with live, always-available large-scale SaaS application</li>
</ul>
Work Authorization: This is a full time role and not open for visa sponsorship - the individual must be a permanent resident or citizen of Canada or the United States.
Annual Salary and terms:&nbsp;

<li style="font-weight: 300;" aria-level="1">Equity award equivalent to 0.15-0.5%&nbsp;</li>
